Sailor Suit Material Correction

Note: Screenshots are from Poser 8. The step-by-step instructions will still work in Poser 7 and Poser 6
This is an easy step-by-step tutorial will show you how to correct the material settings on the Aiko 3 sailor suit that comes in the Anime Uniforms giving it fabric look.
The Problem:"How do I get rid of the plastic look of the Aiko 3 Sailor Suit?"

The problem with the Aiko 3 Sailor suit model is that it is that the original material settings give it a plastic look when rendered. From time to time you will come across similar cases with other models. This is what the sailor suit looks like when rendered with the original material setting.

Step 1: Open the Sailor Suit in the material room

For this tutorial we will only work with the shirt since the same steps work for the skirt and the socks. Make sure that the Object is the shirt and the Material is Cloth1 as shown below. The Diffuse Color is gray which is giving the shirt a gray appearance shown above. Click on the Diffuse Color box and change it to the color that you want. For this tutorial we will use blue. The Diffuse Color will determine the color of the shirt.

We must also change the Highlight color to Black. Depending on the resolution of your computer the color may already appear to be black. On higher screen resolutions, the color is actually a dark gray that creates the highlights that adds a plastic look to the shirt. If you take a normal cloth shirt then you'll see that your highlights are not shiny white. In order to change this we will change the Highlight color to black.

Step 2: Render Image with New Settings

Your shirt is now ready for use. We have made a few renders using our new material settings and the same light settings that we used in our Before Picture at the beginning of this tutorial. We also used different colors of the shirt using different colors so that you can see how other colors look with the new settings.
